Where's the Leak?

I was reading about the recent NY/LA Times stories on the monitoring of suspect international banking transactions, and it got me wondering. It appears the CIA can't order out for pizza without it leaking to the Washington Post first, where are all the leaks regarding 9/11? Just look at all the leaks that have happened, the CIA rendition program, NSA tapping of calls to foreign phones, the NSA data mining, the Valerie Plame Kerfuffle, which incredibly involved not just leaks, but leaks about leaks. Despite all this though, not a single word on the 9/11 conspiracy, despite the fact that hundreds, if not thousands of people from multiple organizations must have been involved in the murder of thousands of their fellow citizens. Yet not a peep, not even some chemist from the CIA e-mailing Steven Jones his favorite thermite recipe. Makes you wonder...

Well obviously the Joos aren't paying the NYT, WaPo, and LATimes enough to keep quiet.

I suspect that $30 quintillion worth of diamond studded gold nuggets laced with sapphires in the shape of a naked Kelly LeBrock (circa Weird Science, of course) that was hidden in the basement of WTC1 was divvied up between half of the CIA.

The other half were probably just shot.

Don't quote me on that though.... It's just what my "innate" senses* tell me.

* It's like a Spidey Sense, only not as cool and infinitely less accurate.

Although that wouldn't suprise me Shawn, I'm not entirely sure that headline ever existed (or that the Grey Lady spilled the beans about Overlord).

I was just making a joke about how they've released information of a very important nature (as in, not telling the terrorists our methods for stopping them) in this most recent story.

There actually is a true story about how they thought that Operation Overlord was given out in a crossword puzzle

And now you know, the rest of the story.

Oh man, it must be a conspiracy.

James,

Your discussion of this topic needs to be much more nuanced and in-depth.

For example, there was a huge amount of intentional "leaking" to Judy Miller pre-Iraq War.

I don't claim to have the inside facts about what leaks have been fakes, or misinfo, or genuine whistle-blowers. Going back to Watergate, for what it's worth, the whole idea of how "deep throat" and others (Pentagon Papers) "leaked" still remains not as clean has it has been portrayed.

The ownership of the MSM media is more concentrated than it has ever been in modern times in the US. I realise that there may be various explanations, include the profit motive, that might explain what gets published.

Although I'm not 100% sure that the Bush Administration didn't leak the bank account stuff on purpose, I found the explanation by the NY Times' Bill Keller about why he went ahead lame in more ways than I want to take the time to explain.

The days we are living in right now are very odd by any standard. Regardless of how hawkist one may be, or how much one believes in Core Republic values, these times are nerve-racking and divisive. I realise that unless Bush and Cheney are planning to step down, it's their job, (and the jobs of the support structure within the Fed. Govt.) to try to make the best of the mess that we are in. With elections coming up, I don't underestimate the dirty tricks that strategist for the Dems or the Repubs may be undertaking.

Unfortunately we aren't going to get that from your comments...

What about THIS leak? How come this story got buried by AIPAC and ADL? When something wants to stay out of site, it does. If we see any CIA "leaks" there is usually a purpose for it.

In this particular case, the "leak" took precedence over due process and that is the true intention of this "leak." Creators of this policy are now off the hook because the paper is taking the heat. Think about it!

Oh yeah! Over 80 Israelis caught directly connect with the events of 9/11 yet that's the dirty little secret that has a hard time getting aired! Leak my ass.

Where is the incentive to come out if you were involveed in a government conspiracy to pull off 9-11? The fame?

My guess would be it's the same incentive(s) that gets people to come out with info about all sorts of secret projects. What, you're telling me that someone involved with monitoring bank accounts is going to have more incentive to come forward than someone who, inadvertantly or otherwise, helped murder 3,000 Americans?

Over 80 Israelis caught directly connect with the events of 9/11 yet that's the dirty little secret that has a hard time getting aired! Leak my ass.

If your ass leaks, that's your problem, and I don't want to know about it.

Your "joooooz did it" theory doesn't get any airtime for the same reason that all the other 9/11 CT's don't: 'cos they're friggin nuts!

WTF?

You've got a strange definition of "come forward".

Deep throat "came forward" 30 years ago. He only revealed his true identity recently. Big difference. Coming forward in this context means releasing information about an event. Whether the source reveals his/her true identity or not is something completely different. Nobody aleging to be connected to the 9/11 conspiracy has come forward either anonymously or otherwise.

You ever heard that rules are made to be broken?

Secrets are made to be leaked. It's VERY rare that a secret is kept (Operation Overlord being one of those exceptions).

And it tends to be the bigger the secret, the harder it is to keep. For one, my dad would have to be on it. I'm sure he didn't come from the projects to become a government official just to help cover an attack by the government.

Then again, I'm a Joo....
